This research investigates the molecular pathways and enzymatic mechanisms that enable airborne bacterial cells to detect, repair, and survive UV-induced thymine dimers and other photochemical lesions during atmospheric suspension. The study generates critical understanding of how microbial photolyase and nucleotide excision repair systems function under aerosol conditions, advancing predictive models of pathogenic survival in upper atmosphere environments.
