This research investigates the presence and persistence of abnormally folded proteins and prion-like agents in recycled nutrient sources including bone meal and processed animal by-products applied to agricultural soils. The study establishes the first comprehensive assessment of prion vector potential in food production systems and recommends screening protocols.
