Introgression and Hybridization Events in Natural Oomycete Pathogen Populations
This research detects and characterizes genomic introgression patterns between sympatric oomycete species and examines the fitness consequences of hybrid genotypes using controlled crosses and field surveys. The discovery of adaptive introgression regions provides evidence for how hybridization fuels rapid evolution of virulence and resistance phenotypes.
