Interns will work on optimizing and standardizing mitochondrial DNA extraction techniques from various biological samples including degraded remains, hair shafts, and bone. They will develop and validate sequencing protocols using next-generation sequencing platforms to improve sensitivity and accuracy in forensic casework.
