Forest / Wildlife Internships

Forest and wildlife internships โ€” biodiversity surveys, species monitoring, habitat mapping, and conservation-aligned field research.

What is a Forest / Wildlife Internship?

This internship places you in forested or wildlife habitats where you contribute to conservation-relevant research. You learn to record nature systematically โ€” flora, fauna, and the spaces they share โ€” using the same methods conservation biologists rely on.

What you will do

  • Conduct line-transect, quadrat, and point-count surveys for fauna and flora
  • Use camera traps, audio recorders, and field guides to monitor wildlife
  • Map habitats and species occurrences using GPS and basic GIS tools
  • Identify common species by morphology, call, or signs (scat, tracks, scrapes)
  • Compile field observations into a conservation-aligned report

Who this is for

Students of zoology, botany, forestry, wildlife biology, environmental science, and ecology with genuine interest in biodiversity work. Comfort with outdoor and remote-area work is essential.

What you take away

  • NTHRYS internship certificate detailing field-work and species worked with
  • Hands-on familiarity with conservation field methodology
  • A research-grade project report rooted in primary observations
  • A meaningful starting profile for wildlife / conservation career paths
