In Vivo Internships

In vivo internships involving live animal models โ€” gain hands-on experience in animal handling, dosing, observation, and ethical research conduct under strict CPCSEA-compliant supervision.

What is an In Vivo Internship?

An in vivo internship exposes you to research conducted in living organisms โ€” typically rodent or other ethically approved animal models โ€” under strict CPCSEA / IAEC oversight. You learn the responsibilities and rigour involved in animal-based research, from housing and ethics paperwork to dosing, observation, and humane endpoint protocols.

What you will do

  • Observe and assist in approved animal-handling protocols (handling, restraint, marking)
  • Learn dosing routes โ€” oral, intraperitoneal, subcutaneous โ€” under direct supervision
  • Record physiological and behavioural endpoints accurately
  • Prepare and review IAEC documentation, study protocols, and safety records
  • Assist with sample collection and downstream lab analysis

Who this is for

Students from pharmacy, pharmacology, physiology, biotechnology, veterinary science, and toxicology backgrounds who plan careers in preclinical research, drug development, or regulated industry. Prior coursework in animal physiology is helpful but not mandatory.

What you take away

  • NTHRYS internship certificate with detailed scope of work
  • Practical understanding of CPCSEA / IAEC compliance
  • Experience with regulated documentation that industry employers value
  • Confidence around animal facility workflows for higher studies
