What is a Rural / Tribal Internship?

This internship is firmly community-facing. You work in rural villages or tribal areas alongside local populations, contributing to research that addresses real on-ground problems — whether health, livelihood, education, traditional knowledge, or natural-resource management.

What you will do

• Run structured household surveys, focus groups, or participatory rural appraisals (PRA)
• Document traditional knowledge — medicinal plants, agricultural practices, crafts
• Assess local public health, water, sanitation, or nutrition status
• Work alongside NGOs, panchayats, or tribal welfare bodies
• Compile field findings into actionable reports

Who this is for

Students of social sciences, public health, anthropology, rural development, agriculture, environmental science, and life sciences who want grounded fieldwork experience that goes beyond academic theory. Linguistic or local-area familiarity is a plus, not a requirement.
