Thermal Stress Response in Coral Symbionts

Interns will examine how elevated temperatures affect the physiology and gene expression of both coral hosts and their algal symbionts, with focus on oxidative stress markers and thermal tolerance thresholds. They will conduct controlled heating experiments and analyze metabolic changes using spectrophotometry and molecular techniques.
