Functional Gene Analysis and Metabolic Pathway Reconstruction in Oil-Degrading Communities

Interns will use metagenomic and metatranscriptomic approaches to identify functional genes involved in hydrocarbon degradation and reconstruct metabolic pathways active in contaminated environments. They will correlate gene expression patterns with specific degradation activities throughout the succession timeline.
