Root Exudate Chemistry and Pathogen Chemotaxis
Interns will analyze root exudate composition from susceptible and resistant plant varieties using chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques. They will conduct laboratory assays examining how specific exudate compounds attract or repel root rot pathogens and influence pathogen colonization patterns in the rhizosphere.
