Biofilm Formation and Antibiotic Resistance in Aquatic Biofilms

Interns will examine how antibiotic-resistant bacteria form protective biofilms in aquatic environments and how biofilm architecture facilitates resistance gene exchange and antibiotic persistence. They will develop biofilm models using reactor systems and assess the efficacy of antimicrobial agents against biofilm versus planktonic cells.
