Horizontal Gene Transfer and Plasmid-Mediated Resistance in Aquatic Microbial Communities
Interns will investigate the transfer of antibiotic resistance genes between aquatic bacterial species through conjugation, transformation, and transduction experiments under controlled laboratory conditions. They will also analyze plasmid DNA from environmental isolates and track resistance gene dissemination patterns within microbial communities.
